- Lotte Plaza opened in 1989 in Rockville and quickly expanded to five stores in the Baltimore and Washington DC metropolitan area. The store's original mission was to serve the Korean community in Maryland and Virginia, but has since adapted to meet the needs of a more international community. Today, every Lotte Plaza serves a diverse ethnic population, providing produce, seafood and grocery items from Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and India.
